Your Guide to a Winter Arc

Woman with resistance band and explanation of a winter arc

It seems like everyone is going into their winter arc right now. But what exactly is a “winter arc” and how do you start? A winter arc is the act of using the winter months to your advantage with a special focus on self-care and self-development. So, a chill is finally in the air and winter is creeping in which means it is time to implement some new practices into your routine.

  1. Start Walking!

This is the perfect time to get outside and start walking. Now that the scorching summer sun is starting to fade, take advantage of the cooler air and start walking. Getting 10k steps a day has so many proven health benefits and can be a great way to stay active especially if you aren’t a big fan of working out. Start your day off with a nice walk and see how easily your health can improve.

  1. Eat Intuitively

Intuitive eating can be a great way to eat healthier without accepting toxic diet culture. Intuitive eating involves listening to cues from your body to fuel it. This means satisfying your cravings, but also exercising control and knowing when to stop. This will take some practice of course, but intuitive eating can truly be very rewarding and a great way to fuel your body healthily.

  1. Practice Mindfulness

Try to do something mindful each day before bed. Give yourself an extra ten minutes to practice doing something that will help you unwind before bed. This can be anything from reading and journalling, to even just meditating or practicing some breathing exercises. Sleep is so important to relax not only your body, but also your mind. Taking these extra minutes can help optimize your time in bed so you wake up feeling refreshed.

  1. Stay Hydrated

This may sound like the simplest tip here, but it is one of the most important. Hydrating yourself is so important to keep your body functioning properly. Ensuring that you have a full 8 glasses keeps everything in check and will optimize your results.

Now that you have the means to start your winter arc, it’s time to start implementing these tips. Prioritizing your health can be simple if you slowly start making small changes into your daily routine. Try it out!
