Working out is a great way to keep your energy levels up, your health intact, and to stay fit. However, the time commitment when it comes to working out can definitely put a strain on many people’s relationship with the idea of it. How is it possible to carve the time out for a workout when you have so many other responsibilities? Sometimes it can seem like a hassle to do, especially with a busy schedule, but there are so many benefits to staying active! Here are some tips on how to make time for your workouts and prioritize your health!
Split it up!
This is one of the most effective ways to get a workout in your day. Sometimes dedicating an entire hour at a time can be tough or maybe it can feel too overwhelming. If this is the case, maybe try to split up your workouts throughout the day. If you get a break at work, take a walk instead of just sitting on your phone. This can be as quick as five-minute intervals of working out or maybe splitting your workout into two 30-minute sessions. This all varies on your personal schedule, so do what works for you! Just remember that you don’t always have to workout in one go. Just staying active throughout the day is just as effective!
Wake up earlier
Now this tip sounds daunting. Waking up earlier is something no one wants to do. However, this may not always mean having to sacrifice your sleep if you look for ways to maximize your time.
If you find yourself staying in bed when you wake up, try getting up instead and getting a workout in instead. Or maybe you’re scrolling for hours the night before which can affect not only your sleep quality, but also your ability to wake up earlier. If this is the case, try doing something that helps you unwind effectively before bed. If scrolling seems to go on for hours, try an alternative like reading to optimize your time asleep!
Multitask
This can be a game changer when it comes to getting a workout in. If you’re on a phone call, walk around. If you are working at your desk, do a few exercises as you do so. Maybe even while watching a tv show, do some exercises and watch how the time you spend staying active adds up. This is a really great trick for staying fit on a tight schedule.
Be Consistent
This one is more geared towards the consistency in which you work out. Maybe one day your schedule really is so packed that taking out an hour just wouldn’t be feasible. That’s totally okay. But remember that consistency also plays a huge part in staying active and reaching your fitness goals. So even if you may not have time for a whole hour of working out, even ten minutes can do something. Remember that doing something to stay fit will ultimately be better than doing nothing at all.
Working out can be a huge time commitment, but it doesn’t have to feel so overwhelming. With simple planning and the right effort, you can make time to stay fit every day. So get going and start moving!
