Whatever you may be going through in life, it is always important to take the time to destress, relax, and figure out how to rejuvenate yourself. Whether it’s mindfulness, or ways of helping your body prepare for intense work, these are some key ways to help relieve stress and keep you energized.
Learn deep breathing techniques
Breath control is one of the most common ways of destressing. Taking in oxygen helps control heart rate. A fast heart rate, while normal, is still a factor of stress. Getting it to calm down is the difficult part if you don’t know what to do. We recommend finding breathing techniques that work best for you, and gradually implementing it into your daily routine. It can be used as something you do at different points in the day. You’re able to also use this knowledge when you’re under a lot of stress, where you treat it as a technique that calms you down in the moment like an emergency.
Take an hour to exercise
Exercise is important for everyone who wants to live a healthy lifestyle. We recognize that exercise itself as an act can be stressful to think about, but once you get into a routine, it becomes something you are able to use to help destress. One of the best ways of relieving stress is allocating part of it to cardio. It burns calories, and you feel a lot of the motion from it. Lifting smaller weights, aerobics, and stretching are also key ways of exercising that can help with various mindsets. Lifting weights can give you a goal, while aerobics and stretching help make joints feel good and healthy.
Listen to calming music
We enjoy listening to our favorite tunes, but did you know that the types of music that you listen to can have an impact on your stress levels. We recommend listening to music not only at lower volumes, but listening to musical genres that don’t have a ton of fast energy. There are various playlists and videos that give you relaxing vibes that allow you to not only stay calm, but focused.
Mindful meditations
Meditations go hand in hand with breathing techniques. They are important for reflection, and giving yourself a sense of inner peace. While the above techniques are helpful, they are steps to help you ignore stress, or relieve it. Mindful meditations allow you to process your stress by focusing on your emotions, health, and inner thoughts. Not only do they relieve stress, but they present you a way to stop having stress in the future. Mindful meditations can help have a positive impact on your life, and show others your positive attitude when implemented correctly.
Create a “stress journal”
Similar to mindful meditation, we want you to have a way to process your thoughts and emotions. Thinking about it in the moment during a meditation is helpful, but if you find that technique doesn’t work for you, try to put your thoughts down on paper. Think of it as a way of releasing your stress out into the world, and putting it away. When you write this down, keep it in a journal that keeps track of your process. Consider how this stress is making you feel emotionally, and if it is manifesting in a way that is impacting your surroundings. When you take the time to think about these things, it allows you to look back at them and think about the ways you can make positive changes to decrease your stress, and improve your attitude.
We hope that you find these techniques useful. Let us know if they helped you, or if you have any techniques of your own that could help others dealing with stress!
